Standing at 6-foot-8 from Trinidad & Tobago, Malique Lewis originally started his career with Fuenlabrada in Spain upon signing with them in 2021. He spent his first two professional seasons with the club, averaging 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in his second and final year with the team.
Lewis went on to be selected first overall in the 2023 NBA G League International Draft by the Mexico City Capitanes. He posted 8.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game on the year between Showcase Cup and Regular Season action, recording four double-doubles overall. His 5.8 rebounds were good for 4th-most on the Capitanes while his 1.1 blocks were 3rd-most. He scored 15+ points during seven games and showcased impressive shooting range by hitting at least three 3-pointers during five different games. The 19-year-old was invited to the NBA G League Elite Camp in Chicago ahead of the NBA Draft Combine.

Arguably Lewis’s best performance came on Jan. 6 against the Rip City Remix. While his 21 points weren’t a career high, he shot an perfect 9-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range, and also added 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal to lead the Capitanes to a 132-124 victory.
