Joe DiProsperos /February 13, 2023
With All-Star festivities fast approaching, there’s still plenty of G League action to look forward to!
Though it’s not the usual full week of games, there are intriguing matchups that will be worth checking out. That includes teams looking to extend winning streaks, remain in playoff contention, and avenge some early-season losses.
Check out some of the best contests set to take place over the next couple of days.
College Park Skyhawks v. Delaware Blue Coats (Feb. 13 at 7 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)
Delaware has been on an absolute roll of late, climbing all the way up to second in the Eastern Conference. They’re coming off their best performance of the season against Wisconsin in which they scored a franchise-record 166 points in just four quarters, the fourth-highest mark in G League history. Nine Blue Coats scored in double figures as they shot 62% from the field and over 52% from three-point range in that victory. They’re going to be a handful for a very solid College Park defense that’s ranked eighth in defensive rating and has held their opponents to the second-lowest field goal percentage in the G (45.1%).
Sioux Falls Skyforce v. Salt Lake City Stars (Feb. 13 at 9 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)
Sioux Falls and Salt Lake City have climbed back into playoff contention on the heels of some very impressive play of late. The Stars have won five of their last six thanks in large part to an offense that’s climbed all the way up to fourth in offensive rating (116.4). Four players are currently averaging 15 or more points per game, with Frank Jackson (22.2 PTS, 43.2% 3PT) and Johnny Juzang (20.4 PTS, 5.7 REB) leading the way. Meanwhile, the Skyforce have won four of their last six thanks in large part to a top-ten defense. In that six-game span, they’ve allowed the second-fewest points per game (105.3 PTS) and forced their opponents to turn the ball over at the third-highest rate in the G (18.7 TOV).
Wisconsin Herd v. Cleveland Charge (Feb. 14 at 7 pm/et on NBA TV)
Both Cleveland and Wisconsin will be looking to get back on track when they square off in a rematch of their Jan. 13 matchup. In that contest, three players (Nate Hinton, Isaiah Mobley, and Didi Louzada) logged double-doubles for the Charge while Sharife Cooper also contributed 25 points and 9 rebounds in what ended up being a convincing home victory. Although the Herd were on the losing end of that one, they did get an efficient 21 points and 7 rebounds from Jordan Bone, who remains one of their top scorers (18.4 PTS) while also logging 5.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game.
