It’s Sunday yet again, which means there’s a fresh, full week of G League basketball on tap!
There’s plenty to be excited about in the near future. That includes a rematch of a tightly-contested early-season contest, showdowns between elite offenses and defenses, and a whole lot more.
Here are some of the games that will be worth checking out over the next few days.
Texas Legends v. Sioux Falls Skyforce (Jan. 31 at 7:30 pm/et on NBA TV)
It was an absolute thriller the last time these two squads faced off back on Jan. 4. They combined for 262 points through four quarters as Sioux Falls ultimately managed to get the 132-130 win. The Skyforce overcame a dominant 38-point outing from Grant Riller thanks to four 20+ point scorers, with Mychal Mulder dropping 26 points and hitting six three-pointers while Jamaree Bouyea (21 PTS, 8 REB, 7 AST) flirted with a triple-double. Should that game be any indication, fans might be in for another thoroughly enjoyable experience on Tuesday.
Maine Celtics v. Capital City Go-Go (Feb. 1 at 7 pm/et on ESPN+)
It’s the league’s premier offense taking on one of the better defensive units in the G. The guard matchups between these two squads, in particular, should be intriguing to watch. Maine has a plethora of guys like Kamar Baldwin (16.2 PTS, 5.5 AST 4.7 REB), JD Davison (11.9 PTS, 9.0 AST, 4.7 REB) and Denzel Valentine that have been supremely productive for them this season. They’re going up against a Capital City team that boasts two elite perimeter stoppers in Kris Dunn (15.9 PTS, 5.0 REB, 2.1 STL) and Craig Sword, who’s one of only seven eligible players averaging at least 1.5 steals and a block per game. Watching those guys go at it should make for a very competitive contest.
South Bay Lakers v. Mexico City Capitanes (Feb. 1 at 9 pm/et on ESPN+)
Speaking of elite guard play, there will also be plenty of that when the Lakers take on the Capitanes. While Scotty Pippen Jr. continues to lead the way for South Bay, they’ve also gotten top tier contributions from the likes of Devin Cannady (13.9 PTS, 42.3% 3PT), Bryce Hamilton (14.3 PTS, 4.8 REB), LJ Figueroa (12.5 PTS, 4.1 REB) and Shaq Harrison (10.3 PTS, 8.3 AST, 2.4 STL). Meanwhile, on the other side, Mason Jones is currently second in the league in scoring at 25.3 points per game with his backcourt mate in Rigoberto Mendoza (15.6 PTS, 5.4 REB, 1.4 STL) also having himself a strong regular season.
Delaware Blue Coats v. Memphis Hustle (Feb. 3 at 8 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)
There’s sure to be plenty of offensive firepower in this matchup. Delaware is very much in contention for a playoff spot in the East thanks in large part to an offense ranked third in points per game (120.4), second in made field goals per game (45.0) and fourth in assists per game (28.5) while also having the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the G (1.96). The Hustle, at the same time, have been similarly dominant on that side of the ball. Their offensive rating of 115.8 is good for third in the league while their assist percentage of 66.0 is third-best in the G.
