Best Games To Watch This Week: March 12

Joe DiProsperos /March 12, 2023

It’s Sunday, which means there’s yet another fresh, full week of G League action on tap!

There’s plenty to look forward to over the next few days. That includes some rematches from earlier in the regular season, games that could potentially have playoff implications, and a whole lot more.

Check out some of the games that will absolutely be worth watching in the near future.

Stockton Kings v. Salt Lake City Stars (March 13 at 9 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)

It’s another showdown between two of the best offenses in the Western Conference. Stockton came out on top in the first matchup back on Jan. 4, winning by a score of 127-116. Trey Burke was a walking bucket in that one, logging 27 points on 10/17 shooting while the Stars were led by a massive Tyler Cook performance (30 PTS, 14 REB, 3 STL). It must be noted that Salt Lake City was without their leading scorer in Frank Jackson for that contest, and should he take part in this one, it could only add another layer of intrigue to a game that already has the potential to be supremely entertaining.

Fort Wayne Mad Ants v. Long Island Nets (March 14 at 7 pm/et on ESPN+)

Long Island’s 16-game winning streak included a showdown with Fort Wayne back on Feb. 22. In that matchup, which the Nets ended up winning 122-102, David Duke Jr. dropped a game-high 24 points along with 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks while Kaiser Gates (21 PTS, 9 REB, 7/10 FG) and Alondes Williams (17 PTS, 9 REB, 2 STL, 2 BLK) also put together solid performances. Their top-notch defense was on full-display, holding the Mad Ants high-scoring offense to just 38.3% shooting from the field, including 26.3% from three-point range. It'll be interesting to see what round two has in store.

Memphis Hustle v. Windy City Bulls (March 15 at 8 pm/et on ESPN+)

Windy City will be looking to remain among the slew of teams in the thick of playoff contention in the East when they face off against Memphis. Both squads are riding pretty high of late, with the Bulls winners of six of their last seven games while Memphis has come out victorious in eight of their last nine contests. The Hustle’s eighth-ranked defense will certainly face a tough task in slowing down Carlik Jones, who’s currently leading the league in scoring (26.4 PTS) and has scored 25 or more points in seven of his last nine outings.

Lakeland Magic v. Raptors 905 (March 16 at 12 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)

Much like Windy City, Lakeland and Raptors 905 are also fighting for playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference. Both currently own 13-12 records, and they’ve both gotten to this point on the strength of their excellent play on offense. Lakeland right now owns the slight edge in that department, ranking ninth in offensive rating while also logging the most offensive rebounds per game in the G (15.7). With the stretch run of the regular season fast approaching, definitely expect this to be a hotly-contested matchup.
