Thanksgiving is almost here. And what better way to ring it in than with another week of G League action?
There’s plenty to look forward to throughout the league over the next couple days. That includes a pair of exciting individual matchups, a more than healthy amount of offense, and another early in-division matchup.
Take a look at what’s worth keeping an eye on.
Birmingham Squadron v. Memphis Hustle (Nov. 21 at 8 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)
Rookie Kenneth Lofton Jr. has been an absolute joy to watch. The Memphis big man has bullied opponents to the tune of 27.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. He has posted double-doubles in his last three outings, including a monster 31-point, 14-rebound, six-assist performance against Rio Grande Valley. He’ll be going up against a Squadron team that also boasts an impressive rookie of their own in Dereon Seabron (20 PTS, 6.2 REB, 4.7 AST) that could very well make this a matchup of potential Rookie of the Year finalists.
Cleveland Charge v. Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Nov. 22 at 11 am/et on NBAGLeague.com)
Individual offensive firepower will not be hard to come by in this game. On Cleveland’s side, Sharife Cooper has been on an absolute tear to start the season. He currently leads the league in scoring at 27.9 points per game, while also posting over six assists per game, as he and the Charge have stormed out the gate winning six of their first eight games. Meanwhile, not to be outdone, Gabe York has similarly been on fire for Fort Wayne. His 26.8 points per game is good for fifth-best in the league, and he most recently took home Player of the Week honors. Expect buckets on buckets on buckets.
Lakeland Magic v. Texas Legends (Nov. 22 at 8 pm/et on ESPN+)
Speaking of offense, Tuesday will also feature a battle of two of the league’s top-five offenses. The Legends’ 118.2 points per game is the third-most among all teams, being paced in that department by the backcourt tandem of Jaden Hardy (27 PTS) and McKinley Wright IV (22 PTS). On the other hand, Lakeland has been getting excellent production from Jay Scrubb, who they acquired this past offseason. His 23.4 points per game leads the Magic, most recently dropping a career-high 38 points against Austin.
Mexico City Capitanes v. Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Nov. 23 at 8 pm/et on ESPN+)
Mexico City has been getting major production out of its former NBA vets as they boast the league’s best-rated defense. Both Gary Clark and Mason Jones are averaging more than 20 points per game, with the former also logging 11 rebounds per contest. Add in Jahlil Okafor (17.3 PTS, 6.8 REB, 1.2 BLK) and Bruno Caboclo (17.2 PTS, 7.4 REB, 3.2 BLK), and this is a very dangerous squad. They’ll take on the same Vipers team they beat to open their season, but it’s a collective has looked better of late thanks to the likes of Louis King (24 PTS, 6.8 REB, 2.5 STL), Darius Days (21 PTS, 8.3 REB, 2 STL) and Trevor Hudgins (17.8 PTS, 5.5 AST).
