Charlotte Hornets Sign Drew Peterson To Two-Way Contract

July 16, 2025 – Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson announced today that the team has signed free-agent guard Drew Peterson to a Two-Way contract. Per team policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Peterson hails from Libertyville, Ill. and made 28 total appearances (one start) across two NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics, winning an NBA Championship in 2024.

In those two seasons, Peterson also competed in 63 games with the Maine Celtics, Boston’s G League affiliate, helping lead the team to the G League Finals in 2023-24 and the G League Eastern Conference Finals last season. He began his professional career with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami’s G League affiliate, after attending the Heat’s training camp in 2023-24. Peterson boasts career averages of 16.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.1 steals in 33.7 minutes per game, totaling 77 outings (66 starts) in the G League.

Peterson played collegiately at Rice University and the University of Southern California. The 6-9 guard averaged 8.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 26.0 minutes per game across 64 games (54 starts) in two seasons as an Owl, and 12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 32.5 minutes per game across 100 appearances (97 starts) in three seasons as a Trojan.
