Ignite Gets Back On Track, Looks To Start Winning Streak Against Long Island Nets

NBA G League Ignite continues its toughest stretch of the season with five games in seven days when the team takes on the Long Island Nets Monday at AdventHealth Arena. Monday’s action is the second game of Ignite’s third back-to-back of the season and tips off at 3 p.m. ET, airing love on ESPN2. Ignite is coming off a bounce-back win over Greensboro after taking to the court less than 24 hours ago for the first game of the back-to-back, topping the Swarm 122-109. Rookies Jonathan Kuminga (17.6 points per game) and Jalen Green (17.1) continue to post impressive numbers, while Isaiah Todd has tallied double figures in back-to-back outings, including a career-high 23 points, to up his average. Long Island is 2-5 on the season, posting wins over Iowa and Westchester. B.J. Johnson leads the Nets with 20.0 ppg, good for 10th in the league, two-way player Reggie Perry is averaging a near double-double with 18.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, and Jeremiah Martin is averaging 17.9 points to round out the Nets’ top three scorers. Jeremiah Martin is averaging a league-leading 3.0 steals.

Ignite got back into the win column with a balanced effort over Greensboro, posting a season-high 122 points to win 122-109. The team also set season-high totals in field goal percentage (52.7), field goals made (49), 3-pointers made (12) and assists (34). Isaiah Todd led Ignite’s scorers with a career-high 23 points, and Daishen Nix dished out 13 assists and added seven rebounds. Jonathan Kuminga (18 points), Amir Johnson (18), Jalen Green (17), Jessie Govan (12) and Brandon Ashley (11) all added double-digit point totals for Ignite.

After matching his career-best 14-point total against Westchester on Thursday, Isaiah Todd upped his personal best to 23 points in Sunday’s win over Greensboro. The Ignite rookie is averaging 18.5 points over the last two outings and 11.4 points on the season.

Against the Swarm, Ignite tallied a season-high 34 assists on a season-best 49 field goals. Daishen Nix accounted for 13 of those assists for a new career high. Nix is averaging a team-high 5.6 assists per game.

Amir Johnson is averaging 14.5 points in the last two games, setting a season-high 11 points against Westchester on Thursday before following it up with an 18-point performance against Greensboro. In that span, he is shooting 62.5 percent (10-16).
