ORLANDO -- The Orlando Magic have converted the contract of center Colin Castleton to a two-way contract, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.
Castleton (6’11”, 250, 5/25/00) played in two preseason games with Orlando, averaging 5.5 ppg. and 3.5 rpg. in 6.4 minpg. He was originally signed as a free agent on September 2. Last season, Castleton played in a combined 26 games (four starts) with Memphis, Toronto and Philadelphia, averaging 4.7 ppg., 4.7 rpg. and 1.1 apg. in 16.6 minpg. He also played in a combined 19 regular season NBA G League outings (18 starts) with Memphis, Osceola and Raptors 905, averaging 18.2 ppg., 10.6 rpg., 3.1 apg., 1.16 blkpg. and 1.16 stlpg. in 30.3 minpg., while shooting .593 (137-231) from the floor.
Undrafted by an NBA franchise, Castleton has appeared in 42 career NBA regular season games (four starts) with the L.A. Lakers, Memphis, Toronto and Philadelphia, averaging 3.5 ppg. and 3.2 rpg. in 11.7 minpg. He has also played in 31 career NBA G League regular season games (30 starts) with South Bay, Memphis, Osceola and Raptors 905, averaging 16.6 ppg., 10.2 rpg., 2.9 apg., 1.32 blkpg. and 1.10 stlpg. in 29.7 minpg., while shooting .575 (200-348) from the floor.
Castleton played in 122 career games (75 starts) during five combined seasons at the University of Michigan (2018-20) and the University of Florida (2020-23), averaging 10.4 ppg., 5.6 rpg., 1.2 apg. and 1.73 blkpg. in 20.9 minpg. He led the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in blocked shots during his grad season (2022-23). Castelton was named to the 2022-23 All-SEC First Team (coaches), the All-SEC Second Team twice (2020-21 and 2021-22) and to the 2022-23 SEC All-Defensive Team.
Castleton will wear #14 with the Orlando Magic.
In addition, Orlando has waived Reece Beekman, Lester Quiñones, Javonte Smart and Phillip Wheeler.
