Portland Trail Blazers Sign John Tonje to Two-Way Contract

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 25, 2026) – The Portland Trail Blazers have signed guard John Tonje to a two-way contract, it was announced today by General Manager Joe Cronin. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Tonje, 25, appeared in six games with the Boston Celtics during the 2025-26 season, averaging 2.5 points and 1.0 rebound in 7.0 minutes while shooting 30.0 percent from three-point range.

He also spent time in the NBA G League, where he appeared in 29 games (all starts) between the Salt Lake City Stars and Maine Celtics, averaging 18.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 31.3 minutes per game while shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from three-point range and 88.8 percent from the free throw line.

Originally selected by the Utah Jazz with the 53rd overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the 6-5, 218-pound wing played collegiately at Colorado State, Missouri and Wisconsin. During his final collegiate season at Wisconsin, Tonje averaged 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists while earning Consensus Second Team All-American honors and First Team All-Big Ten recognition.
