Utah Jazz Sign John Tonje to Two-Way Contract

SALT LAKE CITY (August 26, 2025) – The Utah Jazz have signed second-round draft selection John Tonje (TAWN-jay) to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.  

Tonje (6-5, 218, Wisconsin) averaged 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists across 37 games (all starts) during the 2024-25 season at Wisconsin. Last year, the 24-year-old tallied 724 points, the second-highest single-season total in program history.

The North Omaha, NE native appeared in 167 collegiate games over six seasons, with previous stops at Colorado State (2019-23) and Missouri (2023-24). In his final season, Tonje earned 2025 Consensus Second Team All-American honors and was a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection.  He also became the first NCAA Division I player since Kemba Walker to post three 30-point games against top-10 opponents. Tonje also has experience with the Cameroon National Team, competing in the 2023 FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Nigeria.
