Raptors Convert Lawson To Standard Contract

The Toronto Raptors announced Saturday they have converted guard AJ Lawson to a standard NBA contract. Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lawson, 6-foot-6, 185 pounds, is averaging 4.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 9.3 minutes in 23 games with the Raptors this season. He has also played in 36 NBA G League games (all starts) with Raptors 905, averaging 21.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 31.9 minutes.

Lawson was named to the All-NBA G League Second Team and helped the 905 earn the number one seed in the league's Tip-Off Tournament, reach the 2025G League Winter Showcase Final and secure a playoff berth.

A native of Brampton, Ontario, Lawson holds career averages of 4.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 10.6 minutes in 106 NBA games (two starts) with Dallas, Minnesota and Toronto. He joined the Raptors as a two-way player in December 2024. After going undrafted, Lawson spent the 2021-22 campaign with College Park in the NBAG League and played with the Guelph Nighthawks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League before signing a two-way contract with the Timberwolves in the summer of 2022. He played three collegiate seasons (2018-21) at South Carolina where he was named Second Team AII-SEC as a junior.
