Raptors Sign AJ Lawson to Two-Way Contract

The Toronto Raptors announced Saturday they have signed guard AJ Lawson to a two-way contract. Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lawson, 6-foot-6, 185 pounds, averaged 9.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 18.7 minutes in 26 games (two starts) with the Raptors last season. He also averaged 20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 33.1 minutes in 37 Tip-Off Tournament and regular season games with the Long Island Nets and Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors. Lawson originally signed a two-way contract with Toronto on Dec. 11, 2024 and was converted to a standard NBA contract on Apr. 12, 2025.

A native of Brampton, Ontario, Lawson holds career averages of 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 10.9 minutes in 83 career games with the Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Toronto Raptors over the last three seasons.

Prior to the NBA, Lawson played three collegiate seasons (2018-21) at South Carolina where he posted averages of 14.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 30.2 minutes in 81 career games. In 21 games as a junior, he averaged 16.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 31.4 minutes and earned Second Team All-SEC honours.
