Raptors Convert Malachi Smith To Two-Way Contract

The Toronto Raptors announced Monday they have converted guard Malachi Smith to a two-way contract. Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Smith, 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, averaged 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 23.9 minutes in 15 games (four starts) with Brooklyn last season. He shot .485 (48-99) from the field, including .435 (20-46) from three-point range, and scored in double figures six times with one double-double. Smith recorded a season-high 19 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds Apr. 10 at Milwaukee. He also appeared in 39 games (18 starts) with Long Island in the NBA G League, averaging 14.4 points, 5.7 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 28.7 minutes. 

A native of Belleville, Illinois, Smith played two seasons (2023-25) in the NBA G League with Rip City, Wisconsin and Memphis after going undrafted in 2023. He played collegiately at Gonzaga (2022-23), Chattanooga (2020-22) and Wright State (2018-19). Smith was named the 2023 West Coast Conference Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 20.8 minutes in 37 games (one start) as a senior with the Bulldogs.
