Shaq Harrison Earns NBA Call-Up With Portland Trail Blazers

EL SEGUNDO – The Portland Trail Blazers have announced that the team has signed South Bay Lakers guard Shaq Harrison on a 10-day contract.

In 32 regular season games (all starts) for South Bay this season, Harrison averaged 13.6 points (.493 FG%), 6.2 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 2.1 steals in 32.5 minutes per game. Harrison was the only player in the NBA G League this season to be in the top five in both assists and steals per game.

Harrison has played a total of 175 NBA games (23 starts) with five different franchises (Phoenix, Chicago, Utah, Denver and Brooklyn). The 2022 G League Defensive Player of the Year has averaged 5.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 15.2 minutes per game in his NBA career. In 143 career G League games (82 starts) for South Bay, Delaware and Northern Arizona, Harrison has averaged 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.8 steals in 29.7 minutes.

Harrison played collegiately at Tulsa University (2012-16) where he made history as the only TU player to start every game his team played during his four-year career. The Kansas City native averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Harrison ranks second all-time at TU with 461 career assists and is the only TU player to ever record at least 1,300 points, 400 assists and 200 steals. Harrison was a two-time American Athletic Conference performer.

The call-up marks the second of the season for South Bay and the 48th in team history.
