Timberwolves Sign Jesse Edwards To Two-Way Contract

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has signed center Jesse Edwards to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released. 

Edwards, 7-0, spent last season at West Virginia University where he played in 23 games (22 starts) and averaged 15.0 points on 61.3% shooting from the field, 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 28.3 minutes per game. Edwards led West Virginia in field goal percentage (61.3%), total rebounds (185), rebounding average (8.0 rpg), total blocks (39) and blocking average (1.7 bpg). He tallied six double-doubles last season, ranking fourth in the Big 12. Edwards’ top performance last season came on March 6 against TCU when he scored a career-best 36 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. His 36 points were the most points scored by a player in the Big 12 last season and he became the fifth West Virginia player and first since 1962 to have 36+ points and 13+ rebounds in a game.  

Prior to West Virginia, Edwards spent four seasons at Syracuse University where he played in 95 games (56 starts), totaling 836 points, 568 rebounds and 172 blocks. After averaging 14.5 points on 59.2% from the field, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks during his final season at Syracuse in 2022-23, he was named to the All-ACC Third Team and ACC All-Defensive Team. 

The Amsterdam native suited up for the Netherlands Senior National Team during the 2023 World Cup qualifying tournament and the 2022 Eurobasket tournament.
