Utah Jazz Sign David Jones To Two-Way Contract

The Utah Jazz have signed guard/forward David Jones to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. In a related move, the team has waived guard Jason Preston.

Jones (6-6, 210, Memphis) has appeared in four games for the Mexico City Capitanes of the NBA G League in 2024-25, averaging 21.2 points on 47.5 percent from the field, along with 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in 29.0 minutes per contest. The 22-year-old participated as a member of the 76ers entry at the 2024 Salt Lake City Summer League and 2024 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas. 

A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he had a four-year collegiate career with DePaul (2020-22), St. John’s (2022-23), and Memphis (2023-24) appearing in 100 career NCAA games (82 starts), owning averages of 15.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 steals in 28.0 minutes per contest. As a senior for Memphis in 2023-24, he saw action in 32 games (all starts), averaging 21.8 points on 45.9 percent shooting, adding 7.6 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.8 assists in 32.4 minutes per game, garnering All-AAC First Team honors. 

Preston (6-4, 197, Ohio), who was signed on a two-way contract with Utah on Jan. 8, appeared in seven games for the Jazz and 26 games (all starts) for the Salt Lake City Stars during the 2023-24 season.
