2024 NBA Draft Profile: Izan Almansa

NOTE: Izan Almansa has reportedly withdrawn his name from the 2024 NBA Draft player pool.

A highly decorated international prospect, Spanish big man Izan Almansa spent the past two seasons with Overtime Elite, averaging 9.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists during the 2022-23 season with YNG Dreamerz. The 6-foot-10 forward scored in double figures 11 total times and had four double-doubles during OTE Regular Season and Playoffs while finishing fifth in the league in rebounding. While playing for Spain, Almansa earned MVP honors at the FIBA U17 World Cup, U18 European Championship and the FIBA U19 World Cup.

The 19-year-old officially signed with Ignite in June of 2023, joining alongside fellow OTE alum Tyler Smith. In his season debut, he posted 7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. He recorded his first double-double with Ignite two weeks later with 22 points and 10 rebounds against the South Bay Lakers. Across the entire season, he scored in double figures 25 times for Ignite - including five games with 20+ points - and racked up seven double-doubles. He flashed visions of stellar playmaking from the post, finishing with 3+ assists nine different times while also racking up multiple blocks eight times.

Top Performance:

Almansa made a massive impact in Ignite's overtime win against the Iowa Wolves on Jan. 31. The Spaniard came on strong down the stretch, scoring 16 of his 20 points in the 4th quarter or overtime as Ignite continued to feed him in the post in crunch time. He finished with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including the game-winning hook shot off of an offensive rebound to hit the Final Target Score in overtime, while also adding 8 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and a block.

All-Star Weekend 2024:

Almansa participated in both the Panini Rising Stars and G League Up Next Game during NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. He scored 2 points and added 1 block in a phenomenal coast-to-coast sequence for Team Detlef in their Semifinals win over Team Pau in the Panini Rising Stars matchup, helping the G League team to its first win at an NBA All-Star Rising Stars event. He then represented Team Ball Is Life for the NBA G League Up Next Game presented by AT&T, posting 2 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist in their Semifinals win over Team Giraffe Stars before adding an assist off the bench in the Finals against Team Earn Your Leisure.
