Best Games To Watch This Week: Feb. 21

Joe DiProsperos /February 21, 2023

G League action is back with a fresh slate of games set to tip off on Wednesday!

The stretch run of the regular season is fast approaching, so there’s plenty to look forward to in the immediate future. That includes rematches of hotly-contested matchups from earlier in the season, teams looking to maintain their strong play prior to the All-Star break, and much more.

Here are just some of the matchups you won’t want to miss.

Fort Wayne Mad Ants v. Long Island Nets (Feb. 22 at 7 pm/et on NBA TV)

Long Island’s 11-game winning streak will be put on the line right out of the break. The Mad Ants have been steadily rising in the Eastern Conference, currently sitting in fourth place thanks to their high-powered offense. Scoring the second-most points per game in the G (124.0) while also registering the league’s second-highest field goal percentage (50.3%), they’ll be taking on their toughest challenge to date in the Nets and their top-rated defense. It’s a clash of winning formulas that’s almost guaranteed to be a good one.

Ontario Clippers v. Stockton Kings (Feb. 23 at 10 pm/et on ESPN+)

It was an absolute defensive slugfest between these two squads when they first faced off on Jan. 6 in Stockton. The Kings ultimately came out of that one victorious by a final score of 104-92, holding Ontario to just 40.7% shooting from the field. While Trey Burke contributed 20 points and 4 rebounds, Stockton’s leading scorer Neemias Queta also added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Despite the loss, Nate Darling put together a stellar performance for the Clippers, dropping a then-career-high 37 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. If it's anything like their opening matchup, expect another tight contest on Thursday.

Delaware Blue Coats v. Capital City Go-Go (Feb. 25 at 7 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)

Just like their Eastern Conference rival Long Island, Delaware is riding high with the playoffs getting closer and closer. A five-game winning streak as well as top-five rankings in both net and defensive rating has them in second place in the East. Meanwhile, Capital City is looking to remain in playoff contention on the strength of a top-ten defense that ranks fifth in steals per game (9.6). The Go-Go, though, will certainly have their hands full against a Blue Coats team that’s currently scoring at the highest rate per game in the entire G (124.2 PTS).
