Best Games To Watch This Week: Jan. 8

It’s Sunday, so it’s time to get set for yet another loaded week of G League action.

There’s plenty to look forward to over the next few days. That includes teams who will be putting their early undefeated streaks on the line as well as some potentially intriguing individual matchups.

Here are some of the matchups that will be worth checking out.

Sioux Falls Skyforce v. Stockton Kings (Jan. 9 at 10 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)

The Stockton Kings have been (literally) perfect to start the regular season. One of just three teams to sit at 5-0, they own the fourth-best net rating in the league and force the third-most turnovers (20.4) among all teams. Their backcourt of Trey Burke (21.0 PTS, 43.6 3-PT%) and rookie Keon Ellis (16.4 PTS, 4.0 REB, 1.6 STL) continues to provide very meaningful contributions to their cause. They’ll look to try and slow down the Skyforce’s high-powered offense, which ranks fourth in offensive rating and turns the ball over a league-low 13 times per game.   

Capital City Go-Go v. Raptors 905 (Jan. 10 at 7:30 pm/et on NBA TV)

Capital City’s flawless start has been spearheaded by a defense that boasts a top-three defensive rating. They’re second in steals per game (11.6), with rookie Quenton Jackson currently fourth in the league in that department (2.8), and force a league-high 23.2 turnovers per game. Not to be outdone on the offensive end, they rank in the top-five in both effective field goal (57.8%) and true shooting percentage (64.6%). Meanwhile, Raptors 905 has seen the likes of Dalano Banton (24.5 PTS, 8.0 REB, 1.5 STL, 2.3 BLK), Reggie Perry (22.0 PTS, 8.0 REB, 1.3 BLK) and Saben Lee (17.8 PTS, 8.3 AST, 2.0 STL, 1.3 BLK) put together some strong performances early on.

Mexico City Capitanes v. G League Ignite (Jan. 10 at 10 pm/et on ESPN+)

Mexico City’s Mason Jones has been on an absolute tear through the first month of the season. The G’s Player of the Month for December is fourth in the league in scoring at 27.5 points per game while also logging 6.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and two steals per contest. Thanks in large part to his production, the Capitanes find themselves right at the top of the Western Conference. Ignite’s Scoot Henderson has gotten off to a similarly hot start to the regular season, logging at least 20 points and 5 assists in four of the five regular season games he’s played in so far, all of which his squad ended up winning. 

Memphis Hustle v. Wisconsin Herd (Jan. 11 at 7 pm/et on ESPN+)

Memphis has opened its regular season with four-straight victories, three of them coming by double-digit margins. No team has a better offensive rating than the Hustle, who are scoring the third-most points per game (121.5) and continue to get excellent production from Vince Williams Jr. (18.8 PTS, 9.5 REB, 2.0 STL), Kenneth Lofton Jr. (15.0 PTS, 9.3 REB, 4.5 AST) and Dakota Mathias (16.5 PTS, 44.8 3PT%). It’ll surely be a tough test for a Wisconsin defense that’s holding opponents to just 43.1% shooting from the field, the second-best mark in the league, and a league-low 25% from three-point range en route to a 3-0 start.
