Best Games To Watch This Week: March 19
Joe DiProsperos /March 19, 2023
With the playoffs right around the corner, we’ve got our last full week of G League regular season play on tap!
There is a ton at stake across the landscape of the league in the near future. With numerous teams jockeying for playoff spots in both conferences, expect to see some highly-competitive matchups as the regular season nears its conclusion.
Check out some of the matchups absolutely worth checking out over the next few days.
Memphis Hustle v. Ontario Clippers (March 20 at 10 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)
Ontario is among the handful of teams still vying for playoff positioning in the Western Conference. With four wins in their last five outings, the Clippers and their second-ranked defense have clearly found their footing at the right time. However, they’ll certainly have a tough task ahead of them when second-place Memphis comes to town. Though the Hustle have already clinched their playoff berth, they’ll still be looking to lock up a top-two seed and, therefore, earn a first-round bye.
Maine Celtics v. Windy City Bulls (March 21 at 8 pm/et on ESPN+)
These two teams are separated by just one game entering the final full week of regular season action. Windy City remains one of the hottest teams in the G at the moment, having now won eight of their last ten games including a massive 119-112 victory over second-place Delaware on March 18. Meanwhile, Maine has held on to the third seed in the East after splitting their last two series against Long Island and Wisconsin. A lot will be on the line in this one, so definitely expect it to be a hotly-contested affair.
Santa Cruz Warriors v. Rio Grande Valley Vipers (March 21 at 8 pm/et on ESPN+)
Both Rio Grande Valley and Santa Cruz continue to lurk behind Salt Lake City in the fight for the West’s final playoff spot. Thanks in large part to absolutely dominant play from Lester Quinones of late, Santa Cruz is riding a four-game winning streak to keep their playoff hopes alive. On the other hand, led by a string of excellent performances from rookie Darius Days, the Vipers have won six of seven to also remain firmly in the postseason conversation. There will surely be a playoff-type atmosphere when these two square off.
Long Island Nets v. Lakeland Magic (March 23 7 pm/et on ESPN+)
Three games separate the third and eleventh seeds in the East, with Lakeland right in the mix there. Six wins in their last eight games, most recently a two-game road sweep against Raptors 905, has the Magic in a prime position to earn themselves a playoff berth. However, they’ll be hosting a Long Island squad that’s looking to get back a little bit of momentum heading into playoff action despite being in firm control of the conference’s top seed.
