SLC Stars Acquire Two-Time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas

SALT LAKE CITY (March 6, 2024) — The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, announced today the acquisition of the player rights of Isaiah Thomas from the Grand Rapids Gold (Denver Nuggets affiliate).

A two-time NBA All-Star (2016, 2017), Thomas (5-9, 185, Washington) owns an 11-year NBA career, appearing in 550 games (362 starts) with career averages of 17.7 points  with 2.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. The former All-NBA performer most notably played with the Boston Celtics, where he earned his career-best statistical seasons from 2015-17, averaging 24.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists, while making three consecutive playoff appearances (2015-17).

During the 2021-22 season, the Tacoma, Wash., native appeared in four games (all starts) for the Grand Rapids Gold (Denver Nuggets G League affiliate), posting averages of 41.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists, including a 42-point performance in his G League debut on Dec. 15, 2021 . Following his time with the Gold, Thomas received NBA call-ups on 10-Day contracts with the Los Angeles Lakers (four games), Dallas Mavericks (one game), and Charlotte Hornets, where he remained for the rest of the 2021-22 NBA season. 

The Stars host the Texas Legends on Thursday, March 7 at the Maverik Center and will be wearing jerseys inspired by the WNBA’s Utah Starzz as part of “Women in Sports Night.” The contest tips off at 7:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on Jazz+ and ESPN+.
