Wendell Moore Jr. signs Two-Way Contract with Detroit Pistons

PORTLAND, Maine. - Wendell Moore Jr. has agreed to a Two-Way contract with the Detroit Pistons. He becomes the first Maine Celtic to earn an NBA Call-Up during the 2025-26 season.

Moore Jr. appeared in the first two games of the Maine Celtics season. In the Celtics' season opener on November 7 against Greensboro, Moore Jr. scored an NBA G League career-high 28 points while shooting 9-14 from the field, including 3-7 from distance. Moore Jr. also recorded two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in the 131-129 overtime loss to the Swarm.

Moore Jr. becomes the 24th NBA Call-Up in franchise history, and the first since Phillip Wheeler signed a 10-Day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers last March. Prior to this season, Moore Jr. most recently played 16 NBA games with Charlotte as a Two-Way player in 2024-25, averaging 5.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game with the Hornets. He is the third NBA Call-Up from the G League this season.

The former Duke standout brought 90 games of NBA experience to Maine. This year, he appeared in two preseason games with Boston, averaging 3.5 points and 1.5 assists in 8.7 minutes per game. Moore Jr. played in the 2025 NBA Summer League with the Orlando Magic, where the guard averaged 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 22.7 minutes per game. Moore Jr. was selected 26th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks. He holds career NBA averages of 2.3 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game across three seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets.

He played three collegiate seasons at Duke, where he helped the Blue Devils reach the Final Four in 2022. At the conclusion of his junior season, Moore Jr. earned Second Team All-ACC honors, was named to the ACC All-Defensive Team, and won the Julius Irving Award, which is given to the nation’s top small forward.
