Nuggets Sign Tamar Bates to Two-Way Deal

DENVER, July 1, 2025 – The Denver Nuggets have signed guard Tamar Bates to a two-way contract, Ben Tenzer, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, and Jonathan Wallace, Executive Vice President of Player Personnel, announced today.
Bates, 6-5, 195, appeared in 133 games (61 starts) in four collegiate seasons between Indiana and Missouri, averaging 9.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists while shooting 45.6% from the field and 92.4% from the free-throw line in 22.1 minutes per game. The 22-year-old finished his career at Mizzou as the only player to appear in all 34 games in 2024-25, starting in each. Bates is coming off a career-best shooting season after going 50.8% from the field, 39.7% from the three-point range, and 94.6% from the free-throw line. His free-throw percentage ranked first nationally and broke his own school record. He scored in double figures in 25 contests, including five games with 20+ points, and was named to the NABC All-Central District Second Team.
Bates went undrafted in the 2025 NBA draft and will play for Denver in the 2k26 Vegas Summer League.
